    Ingredients

    • 12 oz spaghetti
    • 1 lb medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
    • 2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
    • 3 tbsp butter
    • 4 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 piece large lemon, zested and juiced
    • 1 cup heavy cream
    • 1 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
    • 0.50 tsp kosher salt, plus more for pasta water
    • 0.50 tsp coarse black pepper, plus more to taste
    • 0.25 tsp Italian seasoning
    • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
    • 1 tbsp flour
    • 1 cup reserved pasta water

    Instructions

    1. 1

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add spaghetti and cook until al dente according to package instructions. Reserve 1 cup pasta water, then drain the spaghetti.

    2. 2

While pasta cooks, pat shrimp dry and season with 1/4 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp black pepper.

    3. 3

Heat olive oil and 1 tbsp butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add shrimp in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until pink and opaque. Remove shrimp to a plate.

    4. 4

Reduce heat to medium. Add remaining butter to the skillet. Stir in minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.

    5. 5

Sprinkle flour into the skillet and whisk for 30 seconds to combine. Pour in lemon juice, lemon zest, and Italian seasoning. Stir well.

    6. 6

Add heavy cream and reserved pasta water. Bring to a gentle simmer, whisking constantly until slightly thickened, about 2 minutes.

    7. 7

Stir in parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Season sauce with remaining salt and black pepper.

    8. 8

Return cooked shrimp to the skillet. Add drained spaghetti and toss everything together until well coated. If needed, add more pasta water to loosen the sauce.

    9. 9

Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve immediately, garnished with extra lemon wedges and black pepper if desired.
